ReplyDeleteHello Laura,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the quote you used from Sandy Escobido. We have such a unique profession where we wear many hats. Not only do we fulfill the role of teacher, but also therapist, counselor, liaison, nurse and parent on a daily basis. We fulfill each of these roles without hesitation in order to help our children to develop into well-rounded citizens within our society. I look forward to continually challenging myself to becoming a more positive influence in the lives of all children, just as it appears you are looking to do too. By working together with our colleagues we can help motivate each other to becoming influential individuals, and perhaps graduate students will be quoting us someday based on the impact we will have on the early childhood field. :)
These are some great quotes Laura, I think we all can relate to Louise Derman-Sparts when she says she had a "built in passion," because unless you have this passion, nobody would do this job. Parents say to me all the time, "I don't know how you do this," and I always reply, "because God made me!" Passion isn't always pretty or easy, but it comes from within and I'm not sure if it's a choice :)
ReplyDeleteLaura, I really enjoyed reading your inspirational quotes. My favorite quote was from Sandy Escobido. As educators we are the ones that have a chance to shape a childs life and hope that we made a difference in their lives.
